I've copied in a link to a breakdown for a very similar unit (VT612301) to this reply, please review this and confirm if this compressor looks like your model.
The Regulator and internal components install into a larger Manifold; is this your configuration?

Beautiful, the photo tells all. This is a very typical in-line Regulator so we do have a replacement. It looks like the Inlet and Outlet threads are 1/4" FPT and it looks like the Pressure Gauge port is smaller, probably 1/8" FPT.
Our "REG0250M" should work for you. This is a very typical Regulator that we sell for around $20 + shipping.

Thanks. I will look at the old one tonight when I get home to compare to this one. Just to confirm, there are four ports (in, out, hi, lo), plus the adapter where I ruined the threads feed into the bottom of the regulator (i.e., directly from the tank). I am hoping this one is open on the bottom or has a plug that I can remove.

No problem...this one doesn't have a port on the bottom that would thread into your tank per say, but it does have 4-ports.
It has two 1/4" FPT ports (Inlet & Outlet) and two 1/8" FPT ports on either side. Typically you would thread a 1/4" MPT pipe nipple into the inlet of the Regulator and your Coupler into the Outlet port. I'm not sure if you'll find a Regulator that's exactly like your original you removed as that's quite an older style. This should work even if you have to modify it slightly or add/remove a pipe fitting.

Replied by Martin on topic Husky wl660800aj doesn't refill when pressure drop
Hello,
I own a Husky compressor wl660800aj 32 gallon.
I have a simple problem with it. It does not refill it self like it use to. It stops short when refilling up to 150 psi. To reach full pressure, I need to turn the power switch to off, and after about 30 seconds I hear a very light click sound, and the I can start it up again. After 3-4 times like that, I finally reach full 150psi pressure.
When I use it, and the pressure falls, it does not start up again to refill it self. I've had this problem for a while now. Can you guide me on what part I should clean, or replace to fix the problem. It's not over heating.
I did not use it much, twice yearly to change my tires, and to winterize my swimming pool, so I would say a very light usage. I got it new about 8-10 years ago.
Thank you very much in advance
