Gas cap on Brute power washer will not close-gaske was created by sofasurfer
I have a 1 year old Brute power washer. The gas cap worked fine before but not I can not get it to twist-lock. It is a basic twist cap with two little ears on opposite sides which you align with the slots in the tank opening and then when you twist it the ears travel along a slight incline to draw the cap down. It seems that the rubber gasket may be too hard to compress adequitely to allow me to turn it.
Do these gaskets get harder when in use? Is there a remedy? It is impossible for me to apply the cap.

You can try to do what the gentleman suggested in the DIY forums site, coat it with some a light layer of soap. If this doesn't do it then you'd have to replace the gasket or the gas cap. This is the problem with ethanol fuels, it can be harmful to some components.
