Hi there my dewalt reciprocating saw has power and works but the front piece where the blade goes doesn't seem to want to work it sounds like it has disconnected and has no sawing action.Does anyone have an idea of what it might be as I would like to try and fix it myself .thanks for your time.

Thanks for the post Wayne,

Most likely you have a damaged/worn main Gear & Shaft (#16). This is the main gear that the armature turns so there's a good chance the gears are worn down so badly, causing the problem you're seeing.

Also check the #39 Wobble Assembly, this is what activates the main Output Shaft (#20) that goes back and forth when you operate the saw. Take a look at the #19 Wrist Pin, which connects to the #39 Wobble Assy to the #20 Output Shaft.

So, you'll need to take the gear case cover off and get in there to inspect these parts for wear.

I've attached a schematic so you can see the breakdown of the saw and the part numbers.
