I have an hitachi sb b75 belt sander that will spin freely until pressure is applied to the belt, then it will not spin, guessing its some sort of drive wheel/belt?

Thanks Mark. Attached is a .pdf schematic of this Belt Sander for your reference.

It could be that the Drive Belt is stretched out, loose or the the teeth are missing. I would also take a look at the Drive Gear itself in which the Belt rides on (32A & 33 in the diagram).

This is probably what you'll find to be the problem...although check the #44 Belt Tensioner; make sure it's putting tension on the Belt.

Hello MTR! I pulled the cover off where the belt is and sure enough the existing belt is stretched out beyond belief. I ordered a new one and will let you know if that works, I also will check the other parts you mentioned as well. Thank you very much! Mark

Found the belt was stretched beyond belief and replaced it with a new one. Works great! Thank you!
