DeWalt Chopsaw wont start after plugging in for the first time. was created by dc1234
I have just tried to use a DeWalt chop saw that was unused but has been sat around for a little while. after plugging into the outlet for the first time and pressing the trigger it started up as expected, but as soon as i tried to use it again nothing happened, the outlet is definitely working and there is a click when the trigger is pulled but no sound or movement apart from that. If anyone could tell me what it might be that would be awesome, thanks.

I would remove the brushes and use compressed air to blow out the inside of the motor. Replace the brushes and brush caps, then try again.

Also, if this is a DW705, the brush assemblies were known to break at the brass contact.
You can remove the end cap, then pull the entire brush assembly and holder out. See if one of the tabs has broken off.
