Hi guys, I'm new here. Happy to find this forum. I'm the tool specialist for our shop. Needless to say, if it breaks, squeaks or has maintenance schedules, I'm the guy. I take care of a $200,000 inventory. Love my job. Love to tinker.

So here's my question. What do y'all use to lubricate an oil free gun? I have some Senco nailers and staplers that are the oiless type. Of course our carps are often leaving them on the floor in a pile of dust, etc. They get dirty, malfunction, and need a cleaning.

Currently, as with our oiled guns, I'm lubing up O-rings and piston with a light coat of white lithium grease as I rebuild. I'm aware the oil guns dilute this with oil going through them. We do not have a oil drip on our compressor. Just an old Speed Aire regulator/water collector.

As I understand it, the piston ring on the oilless guns is teflon. But even with a teflon pan, one needs some butter to fry an egg. Some guns have aluminum piston chambers. Some have plastic.

When y'all clean/rebuild these oilless guns, what do YOU use as lube during reassembly?

What lube do you use on the o-rings though? Regular air tool oil or something else.
