compressor never shuts down? was created by Beisert
Hey guys I'm a new dummy here replaced the comp. on my northstar and it works great only thing is that it continues to pump it will hit the pop off valve at 155-160 and keeps pumping while my pop off is continuesly blowing out air. I know it has to do with my piping because I know nothing about it so if any of this makes sense please help. thanks

Thanks for the post Beisert!

What you have is a defective Pressure Switch. This is the main on/off electrical box which your power cord and motor cord is wired to, and is preset at the factory to cut-in at cut-off at certain pressures. If the max PSI of this unit is 155 PSI but the unit keeps pressurizing past that to the point where your safety relief valve blows off, the Pressure Switch isn't sensing the pressure accurately and is not actuating the electric contacts to shut the unit off.

I would replace the Pressure Switch as that should fix it up.
