Kellogg 321 air compressor was created by Lmlionnet@charter.net
My compressor has two air lines on the pressure regulator. One from the tank and one from in between the compressor and check valve. Why is that? Do I really need both? Thanks.

You do need both. The line from between the compressor pump and the check valve is the unloader line or "bleeder" line.
The function of this airline is to bleed or "unload" the excess pressure from the pump head after the unit shuts off. This is necessary so that when the compressor starts up again, it won't start under a load and trip your breaker.
The air typically bleeds off from an unloader valve on the pressure switch (a small schrader valve with a weep hole in the side of it).
