Thanks for the post!
By the way, you can view a full parts breakdown of this air compressor by clicking on the below link:

There could be a couple of things causing this problem. First, I would say your on/off Pressure Switch could be defective. This is number 14 on the compressor diagram at the above link.
Here is the Pressure Switch on that unit:
www.mastertoolrepair.com/pressure-switch-034-0192-p-15111.html
This is what your motor and power cord are wired to. It controls the cut-on and cut-off pressure of the air compressor.
With the compressor off and unplugged, take the plastic cover off of the air compressor and take a look at the copper contacts on the pressure switch, which the power cord and motor wires are wired to. Do the contacts look burnt or damaged? If so, the Pressure Switch needs to be replaced.
If the Pressure Switch is okay, the problem could be the number 11 on/off Switch with the large red on/off knob.
You can find this part here:
www.mastertoolrepair.com/pressure-switch-034-0192-p-15111.html
Make sure the circuit board and the wires connected to it are in good condition as well.
Let me know what you find with the above and we'll go from there.

Ah yes, what you need is the carbon brush, that would cause the problem you're having.
True, the manufacturer (who is Coleman Powermate) doesn't offer the part separately, but you may want to go to a hardware store or other tool repair shop and try to find a similarly sized carbon brush. As long as fits in the brush holder and makes contact with the motor, it will work for you.
Also if you would like, you can contact a representative at Coleman Powermate by calling them directly at 888-895-4549.
