The compressor runs and runs and never builds up any pressure over a few lbs. Compressor is past warranty but only used a few time. The start valve on the top of unit has air coming out all the time. I thought that only happens when compressor started. Replaced with a new one same problem. Does anyone have a answer.

You can try removing the cold start and plugging it to see if you get any pressure, but if not that means your reed valves are probably damaged or the gaskets are. Assuming there are no obvious leaks, that is.
