Most likely your on/off Pressure Switch is bad. This is the on/off electrical box where your powercord and motor wires are installed, and it also controls the cut-in pressure and cut-out pressure of the compressor.

It is preset at the factory at a certain on/off PSI, so if it's cutting off earlier than it typically does (say, 100 PSI versus 125 PSI).

Many times you can turn the compressor off, take the plastic cover off of the pressure switch and try adjusting it so that you increase the cut-out PSI setting.

Otherwise, if you can't adjust the pressure switch to the correct PSI then you will need to simply replace it.
