Emglo HC4V 4 gallon compressor stopped working was created by condonald@gmail.com
Hello,
I have an emglo 4 gallon HC4V compressor that has been great to
me for about 15 years. Used to use it on a crew framing and in the last 5
years have simply used it on and off around the house. It began having
trouble starting and a simple wiggle of the plug wire up by the switch
turned into a non start pretty quick. The only trouble shoot I tried was
eliminating the switch and plugging it in thinking that it could have been a
bad connection or switch. Still no start. Do you guys have any suggestions
to trouble shoot or experience in an older machine simply stopping? When I
plug it in there is no sign of life, not whir, hum, power sounds at all.
Thanks!

Thanks for the post Steve!
First, I'd make sure you have power to the motor, confirm you have continuity from the motor to the pressure switch.
Secondly, make sure the copper contacts in the switch are in good shape and not corroded/varnished/burnt.
Thirdly, check out the trouble-shooting doc on our website. I've included the link below, just click to go there:
www.mastertoolrepair.com/general-setup-m...g-jenny-p-26053.html
Bottom line is that it could be a few different issues causing the problem...the motor reset switch, the pressure switch, the power cord, etc.. If you have a volt meter you can check for continuity between all components (preferred).
I hope this helps, feel free to post here with more findings!
