motor pulley size was created by c.forrester
emglo lu pump w/10 inch fly wheel, max rpm 945. motor is a 5hp 3450 rpm. I need to know what size motor pulley to use. I also understand these pumps have had some overheating problems due to the 3 bladed flywheel. Should the flywheel be replaced with a improved version or am I missinformed.

Thanks for the post Mr. Forrester.
It's true that the older 3-blade Flywheel don't cool the pump as well as the newer 9-blade Flywheels, but to my knowledge Emglo never had a consistent problem with overheating because of this, necessarily.
As for the Pulley size you should be using, you'll want a Pulley around 2.5" OD to 2.7" OD, but no larger than 2.7" as that would put the pump at it's max RPM of 945.

Also, I spoke to a tech rep at Emglo and here's is his response:
"If noticing the pump is getting too hot, first check for proper rotation (which is C.C.W. if looking directly at the Flywheel). If this is correct make sure valves are not leaking or restriction in any of the tubing on the pump. Both of these issues will cause excessive heat".
