Ok my older 1hp 125psi craftsman compressor stopped shutting off by itself at set pressure kept going til safety valve blew. So I had no air so I went to see why. Motor was barely turning I tried shutting off with switch but nope so I unplugged it. Left it and used other compressor for a day and that 1 had an issue. So went back to original unit and it came on like always when I plugged it in just failed to shut off by itself at set pressure. I suspect pressure control box but don't understand what's wrong with it can it be repaired wiring looks fine.

It certainly sounds like the pressure switch is defective. Since it controls the cut-in and cut-out PSI of the unit, if the compressor pressurizes past the maximum PSI, the switch is not working properly.
You can attempt to adjust the pressure switch (use safety precautions!) and we have a handy guide here:

Good luck!
