I have a WL650702, and it is overheating and breaking the GFCI. I think its because of a bad compression ring, but I'm not totally sure.
I was looking at getting this part, but I am not sure if it is the same size or not. My compression ring is just about 1.5 inches in diameter :

Can someone verify this part will work on my compressor?
Also if anyone has ideas about my compressor overheating?

A bad compression ring would not cause this.
I would look at the brush springs on the motor. If they appear that they have been overheated and are not a good silver or gold color, then your motor may be burned up.
Also, are you running this on an extension cord? If so, plug the unit directly in the wall and see if this solves the issues.
The other question is, when the unit cuts off, do you hear air leaking anywhere, specifically item 20 on this page link:
