Devilbiss portable gas air compressor overheating was created by Karmen
Currently have an older 8 gallon Portable Devilbiss gas air compressor that is continually overheating. We cannot seems to find out anywhere as to what could be the cause of this problem. Husband says it is Not the motor thats overheating its the air compressor itself. Any ideas??? Anyone??? Please help

Thank you for the inquiry!
Well, there are many reasons for this, or there could potentially be many reasons for overheating. You could have a very dirty air filter on the pump, the reed valves in the pump could be sticking, the Belt could be too tight or there could be an air blockage somewhere.
For some basic trouble shooting I would take a look at the attached document, it may help you get closer to the cause of the problem.
Also, you may want to contact a technical rep with the manufacturer at 800-433-9258 for more info. DeVilbiss is now a division of DeWalt (now called Stanley Black & Decker).
Thank you!
