Leakdown period for Kobalt K7060 compressor

8 years 8 months ago #1520 by CrayD
Finally got 10yo Kobalt compressor back together with new pump and new pressure auto switch installed. Sounds great, EXCEPT it will auto cycle on after about 110 hrs. (less than 5 days). I ask is this too soon to cycle on with NO pressure draw at all. Bubble test at tank drain, master tank output, and auto pressure switch all OK. The one-way input valve is 10yo oem and could be leaking, but maybe 110 hr. leakdown is normal? What say you?

Thanks for the post!

That's not uncommon, but you obviously do have a leak somewhere and I'm sure you can rectify it by finding it and plugging it.

My money is on the one-way Check Valve...this is very typical, especially if it's years old.

As long as you bubble-tested all other connections at the Head, Hoses, Drain Cock etc., my bet is that your Check Valve is simply leaking air slowly back through the lines; usually it leaks through the 1/4" Unloader Line and out of the Unloader Valve on your Pressure Switch.
