Sanborn 89CB200-22 trips breaker immediately

I can find absolutely nothing on the Internet about this compressor. A Google search of the model number comes up empty. It trips the breaker immediately. I suspect the start capacitor but need to insure it's the right one. Help!

Sorry - I put this in the wrong category and don't know how to delete it.

Right, this is an old compressor model so there's not much info for it at all. It COULD be a capacitor issue, but could also be an Unloader Valve problem. Is the unit bleeding the excess air pressure off of the head when it shuts off? Typically you would hear a burst of air for a few second after the unit shuts off, this is the Unloader Valve on the pressure switch which is bleeding off the excess head pressure. If not, then the Unloader Valve is defective.

If the Unloader Valve is working properly, I would test your capacitors, first. You can find a helpful video on how to test the capacitors on our site at this page link:

This is a good place to start, certainly.
