Ok, fist off, I apologies if this is a question that has been answered many times before. I haven't been able to find a solid solution to my problem online after a fair amount of searching (other than buying a new air compressor of course).

To make a long story short, I have a Craftsmen 919.176850 air compressor that my step dad gave me (he moved to a house without 220V in the garage). For what it is, it actually seems to perform really well. It builds pressure quickly, and seems to mechanically be in great shape. However, the first day I used it the tank sprung a leak at the bottom.

Now, it is my understanding that trying to repair something like that is both unsafe and a losing battle. So, I figured I'd hop online and buy a replacement tank. Sears has sold a ton of these compressors for decades, many of which have almost the same tank. Despite that fact, I can't seem to find any place the sells air tanks that are a replacement for units like mine.

Given that a replacement air compressor with similar CFM output is in the $700 to $1000 range, I figure there must be a cost effective solution to replacing this tank that I am just not finding. Does anyone have any input they could throw in on this matter?

There should be a ton of these used units out there that have a good tank but a bad pump. Look for one and pick it up for $25. This is your best option.
